Of the ensemble of historic buildings around Berliner Platz, the "old district court" remains today as a striking landmark and is now home to the music school. It was built in 1907/08 as the first independent court building in Gütersloh in the Weser Renaissance style. The listed building was restored at the end of the 1970s and the original appearance was restored by adding the turret.
