The Minden Cathedral Treasury is one of the most important collections of Christian art in Germany. Exhibits of European standing, such as the Petri shrine from the 11th century or the Minden Cross from the early 12th century, characterize the exhibition. The globally unique "talking reliquary", the reliquary arm of St. Margaret from the 11th century and the Fatimid Hedwig glass from the 12th century are further unique exhibits in the cathedral treasury that are making art history. Henry the Lion also left a special work of art in Minden. The cast lion was a gift from Henry to the Bishop of Minden on the occasion of the duke's wedding to 12-year-old Matilda of England in Minden Cathedral in 1168.
