The Limberg castle ruins in Preußisch Oldendorf: time travel into the Middle Ages

The Limberg castle ruins, picturesquely situated in the TERRA.vita nature park near Börninghausen, are an important landmark in the Preußisch Oldendorf region. The ruins from the 13th century bring history to life and are an ideal excursion destination for anyone interested in medieval castles, historical architecture and the idyllic landscape of the Wiehengebirge. Whether as a stopover on a hike or as the destination of a day trip - the Limberg castle ruins offer impressive insights into the past.

The Limberg castle ruins (13th century) are located in Börninghausen in the TerraVita nature park. The tower, the keep, some surrounding walls and the remains of the gatehouse have been preserved. The keep is 12 meters high. Its walls are three meters thick. The tower has been restored and can also be viewed from the inside.

The Limberg Castle Ruins Preservation Association published the book "Limberg Castle - the center of a region" on the occasion of the association's 25th anniversary in 2007. The chronicle provides an excellent and comprehensive overview of the castle's origins up to the present-day final restoration. The work is enriched by many historical maps and illustrations.

The book is available for €14.80 from the Bad Holzhausen tourist office and the town council.
