Bachlauf und Naturschutzgebiet Begatal

Nature reserve/natural monument
The Bega between Barntrup and Lemgo is a very natural watercourse with wet meadows and remnants of alluvial forest. 494 hectares have been designated as a nature reserve and FFH area to preserve this habitat. The clean, oxygen-rich water is home to many fish, especially brown trout. In addition to the dipper, the kingfisher can also be observed. The banded damselfly and the shiny metallic blue-winged damselfly can be spotted on the banks in summer. (Text: Bernd Mühlenmeier)
