The Wehmerhorster Wiesental lies on the sunny side of the Wiehengebirge, or "Wiehen" for short. A number of small spring streams emerge from the (formerly) dense forest and feed the main stream, which runs parallel to the mountain range.

After sections of the path in the forest, there are some beautiful views of the Ravensberger Hügelland landscape.

Many conifers have died in recent years and a young mixed forest is being replanted. This will hopefully develop into a forest with a future.
