A beautiful walk around Herford city center for young and old, with or without children, with or without a dog (on a leash).
Discover the more natural side of Herford on the rampart walk. There is not much left to see of the rampart itself, i.e. walls or town fortifications, but you walk along beautiful paths, often under trees or along the Aa or Werre, have beautiful viewpoints, discover many magnificent Wilhelminian villas and great works of art along the way. You pass right by the viewing pier, the Aasteg, pass the Municipal Museum (use the free admission to find out about Herford's history), perhaps enjoy a little detour to the Aawiesenpark and pass the Wittekindsdenkmal shortly before the finish, which is also the starting point.

You'll be close to the city center the whole time, so you can easily plan a stop for refreshments in between.
And to top it all off, walk straight up Schillerstraße in the direction of "La Palla" and turn right towards Marta, where you will find the Marta Café, a cozy spot on an outdoor terrace overlooking the Aa. A great tip, even if you have your dog with you.
