- Start: Heimathäuser Stukenbrock, Am Pastorat 18 a-c, 33758 Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock
The tour starts at the lovingly furnished home apiaries in Stukenbrock. During opening hours or as part of a guided tour, you can experience old equipment and modern beekeeping. The route continues along a small, gurgling stream valley (the Oelbach!) to the elementary school and then turns left towards the baroque church, which is well worth seeing. Listen to the sound of its famous organ before you set off on your hiking tour, perhaps fortified by a visit to the café!
The hike first takes you through the settlement, but then quickly turns into a forest hike. The Bokelfenner Forst consists mainly of coniferous forest typical of the barren soil in the Senne. However, it is also partly interspersed with deciduous trees, and the herb and shrub layer in particular has re-emerged in recent years. Red deer seek shelter from your gaze here, but perhaps you will spot a roe deer or a herd of fallow deer.
At the bench in the forest, turn left into the forest. This is followed by a stretch along a road, with mostly forest on one side and fields on the other.
From the bench, you can take a detour in the direction of the boundary stone and the Hudeeiche (1 km, i.e. 2 km there and back, not marked).
You can watch the farmers at work in the relatively small parcelled fields. Buzzards and other birds of prey can also be observed from time to time.
In the direction of Oerlinghausen glider airfield, with a view of the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest within walking distance, you return to a slightly hilly coniferous forest with sandy soil, which does the Senne landscape proud. Countless streams have their source in the Senne, burrowing deep into a sandy bed in a box valley. You cross a dammed Sennebach stream, the Westerholter Bach stream, before continuing along the path, which also takes you past a riding stable. Back in the residential area, you can also watch the Stukenbrock FC players playing tennis, soccer or boccia. At the soccer pitch, the path makes another small detour into the estate, as there is a lovely tree-lined playground that is sure to delight younger children. And then, if you like, there is a cozy finish in one of Stukenbrock's quaint restaurants before you end up back at the Heimathäuser.
