The 37.5 km long cycle tour starts in Schlangen and takes you through the Senneland landscape and the military training area. The almost untouched natural landscape inspires along the way with beautiful heather blossoms and a charm all of its own. Once you arrive at the Ems springs, there is plenty to experience. The route continues towards Schlangen, again through the Senne, past the Haustenbeck ruins and past the Schützenhaus back to the village.

You can discover these highlights along the route:

Village Museum:

Built in 1889 from local limestone, Haus Fischer has been home to the Schlangen Village Museum since 1993. Over 5000 objects offer insights into the former everyday life of the inhabitants of Sennerand. Agriculture and crafts are just as much a topic as learning and playing or living conditions in earlier times and much more.

Winning Mill:

The Winning Mill stands on a hill at the junction of the Alte Bielefelder Poststraße in the direction of Haustenbeck. Its wooden predecessor, built in 1896 as a signal station, was demolished in 1935. The current dummy mill, which often formed the backdrop for troop parades by the British armed forces after the Second World War, was built in 1943.

Ems Info Center:

The EmsQuellen Info Center in the Moosheide nature reserve is the starting point of the Ems Cycle Path, which leads from Hövelhof to the North Sea in the direction of Emden. The exhibition presents the varied natural and cultural landscapes along the Ems. The Ems Experience World in the town of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock, just a few kilometers away, also provides information about the waters.

Church ruins of Haustenbeck:

Located in the middle of a restricted military area, the ruins of Haustenbeck church are a reminder of Sennedorf, which was founded in 1659 and had to make way for the expansion of the military training area in 1939. The remaining surrounding walls of the former church are a listed building, as is the Haustenbeck tower not far away, which was built in 1940/41 as an observation tower.
