Sights on the 4.3 km tour to Hindahls Kreuz:
Hindahl's cross
The location of the cross refers to a 500-year-old settlement in Weringhusen. It commemorates the death of a young girl on the nearby Dumberghof farm.
The wheelwright Bernhard Hindahl from Neuenbeken donated it in 1886. The field name of this wooded area is "Am großen Gott"; also known colloquially as "Am grautem Guot" or "Eisernes Kreuz".
The Brichkuhle
The Lippspring Forest is predominantly located on limestone, where beech trees feel particularly at home. There are several sinkholes due to karstification. The largest sinkhole in the area is the Brichkuhle with a diameter of 40 meters and a depth of 25 meters.
Dolines are formed by the collapse of the surface layers when the rock is washed out and hollowed out by underground watercourses. These holes in the ground, known as sinkholes, can be dry or filled with water.Dolines are valuable biotopes with a special microclimate and provide an exceptional habitat for animals and plants.
