Rahden Schnakenpohl-Tour / Radwanderweg 8

From the parking lot of the Am Museumshof restaurant, the route follows the number 8 along Lemförder Straße towards the town. After about 800 meters, the route turns into Mühlenstraße. Then cross Osnabrücker Straße, pass the Rahden hospital and follow Feldstraße to the right. After about 1 kilometer, Feldstraße forks. Turn right and after a few meters you will reach the former Hotel Bohne. Directly behind the hotel, turn into Sudriede, cross Osnabrücker Straße again and enter the beautiful meadows. On the rest of the route, you cross Varlheide and the fishing town (Fischerstatt). This is where the large ponds of Rahden Castle used to be. Today, pretty farmsteads rise out of old oak trees.

The route continues through the Leverner Wald forest and then takes you past Schnakenpohl. Just a few meters further on is the Zum Goldenen Hecht restaurant with a large, beautifully situated mini golf course that invites you to play.

Now head back towards the Rahden Museum Farm. You cycle through the village of Varl and cross the floodplain on the Mühlendamm before you see the beautifully overgrown castle ruins on the right.
