The Ottensgrund Weg connects the two districts of Haaren and Helmern. Helmern's landmark is the "old lime tree", which is over 300 years old. A wayside shrine was erected under the crown in 1961 to commemorate St. Sturmius. He brought Christianity to the area. The circular tour, which runs mainly through fields, offers wide views of the Sintfeld. You walk along the Via Regia - an old royal road from the Middle Ages - for quite some time. Another reminder of the past is the gallows site. Executions took place at the "Sintfeld execution site" until 1786.
