The small, charming Hörstel district of Bevergern invites you to take a stroll through the historic town center with its 18th century half-timbered houses and visit the Heimathaus. Via the Nonnenpättken (former escape route of the nuns during the 30-year war) you reach the Gravenhorst convent, which today serves as an art and culture center. On your way, you cross the Nasse Dreieck, where the Mittelland Canal flows into the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Lined with steep slopes and attractive viewpoints, the narrow hiking trail winds its way over the Teuto ridge to the "Beautiful View" above the village of Riesenbeck. The view from the panoramic terrace is worth it!
A typical element of the Münsterland park landscape is the moated castle of Surenburg, which enriches our hiking route with its hall-like avenue and moat system. We continue through the sandy dune area "Wildes Weddenfeld" with its old pine forests, remnants of heather and juniper bushes. The Bevergerner Aa leads us back to Bevergern. From here, it is worth making a detour to the Torfmoorsee recreational area with the lake of the same name and a rock nature trail.
