Enter an interesting "journey through time" on the Weser Heights Trail through the nature, culture and history of this unique landscape of the Upper Weser. The 48-kilometre trail leads from the culturally and historically significant Corvey Monastery, which is recognized as a World Heritage Site, to the bizarre Hanover Cliffs.
Along the way, there are always picturesque views of the Weser valley and the neighboring hilltops. Rocks often emerge on the slopes. One of the many picturesque landmarks is the Weser Skywalk with its breathtaking views over the river valley.
The lime-beech forests in the Upper Weser region are unique in their characteristics. The typical forest communities occur in a very species-rich variety. The close interlocking with warm biotope types also provides a habitat for a large number of endangered animal and plant species. Noteworthy are the populations of the rare wild service tree and the original occurrences of yew.
The comprehensive hiking booklet with maps of the Weser High Trail offers a wealth of in-depth information. It is available from the tourist information offices in Höxter and Beverungen or can also be downloaded from the Teutoburg Forest/Eggegebirge Nature Park website.Waypoints
