Exercise in nature is not only beneficial for body and mind; today we would like to invite you to look at the landscape with different eyes.

On the nature park trails in Bielefeld, the dimension of "time" with its many facets is made tangible for nature and hiking enthusiasts.

See the landscape with different eyes

With the "NaturZeitReise" (NatureTimeTravel), nature and hiking enthusiasts can experience the dimension of "time" with its many facets in the natural and cultural landscape on six selected hiking trails in the Teutoburg Forest near Bielefeld.

"Time" includes the history of the landscape as it has been shaped and molded by the people living here over the centuries, but also the natural cycle of plants and animals in the seasons and in their life phases. This also includes the "eventful" history of the earth, which gave rise to the Teutoburg Forest around 70 million years ago.

The trails are assigned themes that are brought into focus by "time windows" and "contemporary witnesses" during the hike. The defining theme of circular trail 1, for example, is the impact of historical forest use by humans, which can still be seen today. Trails 2 and 3 are dedicated to the seasons in the beech forest. The traces of often hidden signs of human life can be hiked on trail 4 and trails 5 and 6 show the possibilities that the history of the earth has created for vegetation through the shaping of different geological formations and the consequences this has for local biodiversity.
