The Desenberg rises a good 150 m above the Warburg Börde. The striking appearance of this cone-shaped mountain and the castle ruins has always fascinated people and made it a popular destination for excursions.

The mountain is not only very attractive for people. It serves as a landmark for numerous insects, including the swallowtail, probably the most beautiful butterfly in the Weserbergland. In the area of the castle ruins, you can observe it quietly as it "dances in the air".

The Desenberg is part of the "Exquisite Nature" area. There are a total of 18 such adventure areas in the Kulturland district of Höxter. They are all part of the "Natura 2000" protected area system and are therefore part of our European natural heritage!
