The main destinations are Wendlinghausen Castle, Sternberg Castle and the Steinberg with its unique view. But we also recommend the Forellenhof with its home-baked cakes at the weekend. It is a paradise for children. The route passes the following interesting points:
Hofladen Schweinerei
The Ehlert family's farm store offers delicious pork, soft ice cream, coffee specialties, regional products, a children's playground, benches to linger on and petting chickens.
Schloss Wendlinghausen
With its unique architecture, Schloss & Gut Wendlinghausen is one of the most magnificent Weser Renaissance buildings from the beginning of the 17th century. The estate enchants with its unmistakable charm at castle festivals, weddings and conferences.

Sternberg Castle
Sternberg Castle was built around 1240 by the Counts of Schwalenberg and first mentioned in a document in 1252. At the beginning of the 15th century, the castle and county of Sternberg fell to the noblemen of Lippe. From the 18th century onwards, it became the administrative seat of the surrounding communities. Sternberg Castle has belonged to the Lippe state association since 1948. In the 20th century, it was significantly influenced by the musician-builder Peter Harlan. Due to its unique location and historical ambience, it is a preferred venue for cultural and festive events.
Steinberg
The Steinberg was used by the military as a missile and radar station from 1963 to 1992. In 1998, NABU Lippe began to restore the 10-hectare area to its natural state. One building was converted into a bat roost. The area is now home to many rare animal and plant species, such as the tree pipit, the smooth snake and the three-fingered saxifrage. From a viewpoint 396 meters above sea level, you have a panoramic view of the Teutoburg Forest and Hermann Monument as well as the Weser Mountains and Kaiser Wilhelm Monument. (Bernd Mühlenmeier)
Stable barn Schwelentrup with playground and rest area
The stable barn was built in Barntrup-Wierborn in 1694, dismantled by the Detmold open-air museum in 1972 and rebuilt in Schwelentrup from 2003 to 2006. The quaint playground and rest area in the Schwelentrup spa park next to the stable barn, designed with tree trunks, boulders, rocks and hills, invites you to enjoy a cozy picnic in the countryside.
