The A1 hiking trail near Dalheim is an almost 13-kilometre circular tour that combines forest, stream valleys and nature reserves.
From the starting point in Dalheim, the route initially leads north along the road "Am Heyersberg" to the arboretum, where it turns right into the forest onto "Lichtenauer Kirchweg". At the edge of the forest, the route turns right again onto the road "Die Große Trift" to the south, past the 13-Linden-Hütte to the district border. The trail then crosses the A44 and runs through the Piepenbachtal valley. North of Meerhof, the route turns right and follows the stream valley back to Dalheim, past the Apfelbaumgrund nature reserve and the cemetery. A visit to the monastery and a stop at the monastery restaurant round off the tour.
