Circular hike through the Langenholzhausen forest starting on the Kirchberg

The local circular hiking trail "A1 Kirchberg-Varenholz" starts on the 176 m high Kirchberg and offers fantastic views of the Weser Valley along the way - over Varenholz to the Kaiser Wilhelm monument. Idyllically through the forest towards Hellinghausen, the trail goes up and down through the Langenholzhausen forest.

Directions

Start at the Kirchberg hiking parking lot. From here, head north towards Ringelbreite-Varenholz. Then turn left and the trail runs parallel to the Weserbergland-Blick-Tour to the west until just before Biershöhe. Here the circular hiking trails separate and the A1 turns left again towards Kirchgrund. After a short stretch parallel to the road, the A1 meets the Kirchbergweg (hash mark 5) before turning left and then right back to the parking lot.

A2 from Dortmund: Exit 32-Bad Oeynhausen, then follow the B514 to Kirchbergstraße in Kalletal


From the direction of Hanover: take exit 35-Bad Eilsen, then the B238 to Kirchbergstraße


From the direction of Detmold: take the B238 via Lemgo

There are bus connections to the main town of Hohenhausen in the municipality of Kalletal and to Lemgo.

The nearest train stations are in Bielefeld, Herford, Lemgo and Rinteln.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

It is worth taking a detour to the "Alles im Fluss" viewpoint with seating area and talking information pillar on the Weserbergland-Blick - Felsenkeller circular trail.

From the A1 in Varenholz, you can also easily switch to the Kirchbergweg, the X2 or the Weg der Blicke.
