Four baptismal angels in one region are a special feature. You have to travel a long way to come across a similar assembly of "heavenly messengers". Baptismal angels have been found in Protestant churches north of the Main line since the 17th century. They are particularly widespread in Thuringia, Saxony, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and the Altmark region.
In some regional churches, they were temporarily banned or pushed to the sidelines without being noticed. It is only recently that interest in baptismal angels has grown again and a veritable baptismal angel research is developing.
