Haus Hill

The façade of one of Minden's most important town houses, which is older at its core, was completed around 1590. The elaborate Weser Renaissance stone façade with gable decoration consisting of figures and volutes (scroll shapes) was created in several construction phases.

The lower storeys were altered in the 18th century in the Bremen Rococo style. The two sandstone stander bays added at this time were removed in 1952 when the building was renovated for traffic reasons. During restoration work in 1990, the façade was given a coloured finish, as it probably originally was.

In the 19th century, the Minden merchant and antiquities researcher Ernst Friedrich Mooyer lived here. Due to his renowned research work, Mooyer was an honorary member of 20 German and seven international history and antiquities associations.
