Annenkapelle

Church
At the confluence of Altenau and Holtheimer Wasser, the hiker reaches a beautiful baroque building, the Amerunger Kapelle or Annenkapelle.
The current building was erected in 1669 by Prince-Bishop Ferdinand von Fürstenberg in place of its dilapidated predecessor.

Every year on the first Sunday in August, the chapel is the destination of many pilgrims from the Soratgau and Sintfeld regions.

Both the Altenau hiking trail and the Altenau cycle path lead past the Annenkapelle (you can find a tour description of both trails under "related tours"). The area around the chapel is ideal for a break in the countryside.
