The Holperdorper is characterized by its special closeness to nature. It combines numerous highlights on a challenging route and leads from the idyllic resort of Lienen across colorful meadows and wide forests to the "Alpengasthof" Malepartus. In the middle of the Teutoburg Forest, what is probably the most northerly snack stop exudes alpine flair. The Holperdorper may not boast Bavarian summit heights, but at 236 meters, the Westerbecker Berg is the highest elevation in the entire Münsterland region. In addition, trout ponds, small watercourses, places steeped in legend and beautiful farms offer pure rural idyll. At the end of the tour, the indoor outdoor pool at the edge of the forest and the barefoot park with water playground and water treading pool in Lienen are tempting. The town center with its many pretty half-timbered houses is also worth seeing.

A wonderful hiking experience full of contrasts: leisurely nature trails through old beech forests and multi-trunk coppice forests, paths and hollow trails in the light shade of the Teutoburg Forest, climbs on the "balcony of the Münsterland" with wonderful views of the flat Münsterland parkland and the rolling hills in the neighboring Osnabrücker Land. Nature shows its diversity with springs and babbling brooks and even a small waterfall. Striking rock formations such as the "Duvensteine" and the so-called "Grafentafel" show the natural beauty of large stones.

These ancient cult sites still cast a mystical spell over many hikers today. So visitors will certainly not regret the short detour to the legendary Grafentafel.

The trail leads through the Holperdorper Valley - known for its lush cherry blossom - and then up to the ridge of the Teutoburg Forest. Here, the Hermannsweg trail leads past the Waldwirtschaft Malepartus, probably the most northerly snack station with an original alpine ambience.

At the end, it is worth visiting the town center of Lienen, about 1 km away. Here, visitors to the lovingly restored town center will find half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets as well as a treat for the feet: the Lienen barefoot park with its approx. 2.5 km long circular path and a large water playground for children.
