After starting at the monastery in Clarholz, the route leads through fields and forests, mostly on wide, secluded paths.

The market square in Clarholz is a good starting point for the almost 18-kilometre circular tour. The church square of St. Laurentius Church and the former Premonstratensian monastery with its carefully restored gardens are right next door. A visit there could be a nice end to the cycle tour.

The tour itself leads quickly out of the town and then mostly along small roads with little car traffic. You cycle leisurely through many meadows, fields and farmland. Farms to the left and right, occasionally along the edge of the forest... this is what makes cycling fun. At around 18 kilometers long in the flat countryside, the tour is not a sporting challenge. But that doesn't matter: all the better for a family outing.

At the end, you cycle back through the village to the starting point. Park your bike, have an ice cream or stop off at the Altes Gasthaus Rugge, either indoors or in the beer garden on the church square, depending on the weather. On Sunday afternoons, the museum in the Kellnerei is also worth a visit.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Stroll through the gardens of the former Clarholz monastery. It also contains the "Labyrinth and Pleasure Garden No. 10" by Belgian artist Jan Vercruysse.
