Due to the water-storing subsoil of sandstone and clay, there are many ponds, streams and springs here. The Leistruper-Wald-Route has been awarded the title of "Quality Hiking Trail" and provides lots of interesting facts about the forest and its inhabitants in a fun way. 11 stations on different topics make the hike through the Leistrup Forest an experience for young and old and invite you to try out and discover. At some of the stations, you can test your skills or compete with forest dwellers, while the adjacent hiking trail leads past several large boulders, popularly known as "sacrificial stones". An approx. 3500 year old stone burial mound gives us an idea of the burial culture of the Bronze Age.
