Enjoy the contrasting landscapes and the natural and cultural-historical features of Hörstel on premium trails along the canal and in the Teutoburg Forest.

From Hörstel train station, an access path leads you to the Aa and along the Mittelland Canal directly to the premium trail   "Bevergerner Pättken".  Listen to the chugging of the cargo ships and the lock system, which is over 100 years old, will not only fascinate technology enthusiasts. Watch the shipping traffic at the "Wet Triangle", the meeting point of the Dortmund-Ems Canal and the Mittelland Canal,  and find out useful information about canal shipping in the "Red Box". The charming village of Bevergern invites you to take a walk through the historic town center with half-timbered houses from the 18th century and to visit the Heimathaus.

The "Waldauenweg" - another premium trail - is quickly reached via the "Hermannsweg" and the 8 is complete with this loop. At the "Schöne Aussicht" in Riesenbeck, the balcony of the Münsterland region, you can enjoy an impressive view of the Münsterland park landscape. In the village, you should plan a visit to the agricultural machinery museum (open April to October, every 1st Sunday of the month, 3 - 6 pm). A typical element of the Münsterland region is the moated castle of Surenburg with its moat system, beautifully situated in the Surenburg forests  with many hiking trails and avenues not far from the recently generously expanded Surenburg riding and driving center.
