There is also a search and hike in Altenbeken. The Geo-Tour in Altenbeken leads around eight kilometers over hill and dale.

The "GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken" presented here is, as the name suggests, an element of the large "GeoTour Paderborner Land" (www.geotour-paderborner-land.de). The latter is a special type of geocaching: under the motto "Hiking and searching at springs", it not only connects all ten towns and municipalities in the district of Paderborn, but also the hobbies of geocaching and hiking. In keeping with the aim of a GeoTour to present an entire region, it has been created in a unique collaboration between regional tourism experts and experienced geocachers. It consists of a total of ten individual hikes that are seven to fourteen kilometers long - there is one in every town or municipality in the Paderborn region. A total of 75 geocaches are hidden along the way.

The "GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken" is a circular route around eight kilometers long, with a short urban section but mostly through beautiful countryside. There are a total of six geocaches to be found on the Altenbeken tour.

The tour starts at a parking lot, which can also be easily reached by public transport. From there, it first runs through the urban part of the town and you will discover street names that are reminiscent of the long tradition of huts and the railroad industry in Altenbeken. The route continues along field and forest paths, where you can enjoy great views of Altenbeken's natural heritage along the way. On one section, the award-winning Viadukt hiking trail and the GeoTour Altenbeken run parallel. The last loop of the circular hiking trail leads past one of Altenbeken's most famous points. Once you have found all the caches, why not reward yourself with a hearty refreshment stop.

The Altenbeken letterbox is the main cache of the GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken. To solve the main cache and find the letterbox containing the stamp for the hiking pass, you need to look out for the hiking trail signs or stickers of the GeoTour, on which you will find a clue to the later solution. More details can be found in the cache description of the main cache "GTPL: Altenbeken - GeoTour Altenbeken"(https://coord.info/GC5Q20J).

The "GeoTour Paderborner Land: Altenbeken" begins immediately with the geocache "GTPL: TB Hotel Altenbeken"(https://coord.info/GC5WMAQ). Once you have successfully negotiated this, walk approx. 50 m along Hüttenstraße and you will reach the retirement home on Schützenweg. After the tunnel, head for the next geocache in the leisure facility in Driburger Grund "GTPL: Altenbeken - Siberia"(https://coord.info/GC5Q1ZH). The next geocache is hidden in the middle of the Bollerborn Arboretum. Here you will find trees from all over the world. The collection, which was created 30 years ago and ranges from the mountain sequoia from North America to the Japanese tree of life, features 50 different tree species in a very small space. The tour, which now runs parallel to the viaduct hiking trail through the forest, continues. The next geocache "GTPL Altenbeken: Bollerbornquelle" (https://coord.info/GC5Q2RZ) will soon be waiting for you here. Once you have successfully found it and refreshed yourself at the Bollerbornquelle spring, follow the hiking trail signs for the Viadukt hiking trail and the GeoTour Paderborner Land and head for the next geocache "GTPL: Altenbeken - Beste Aussichten"(https://coord.info/GC5Q208). This is a good place for a short break and you have a beautiful view over the municipality of Altenbeken. Continue your tour through the beautiful countryside: a mini-multi is soon waiting at the side of the path "GTPL: Altenbeken - Quelle der Züge" ((https://coord.info/GC5Q220)) in a nature reserve. The path does not have to be left at any time.

Here you will learn about the history of the village of Altenbeken and you have to solve a simple task to find the Final.

At the end, the tour takes you back into town to the starting point. The grand finale of the tour awaits you somewhere here with the Altenbeken letterbox: the cache "GTPL: Altenbeken - GeoTour Altenbeken"(https://coord.info/GC5Q20J).

If you have discovered the corresponding information on the GeoTour hiking trail signs along the way, it should be no problem to find and open the letterbox.
