Nature lovers can observe how the small streams Golmeke, Nette, Lühlingsbach, Murmecke and Aabach meander through their valleys here on the northern edge of the Sauerland. The views along the way are always inspiring. The unspoiled landscape also attracts a wide variety of wildlife. The black stork, for example, can often be seen here. Impressive cultural and historical aspects along the way include the old plague cemetery from the 17th century near Leiberg and the village of Bleiwäsche, whose name is based on the mining of lead that took place there in the 16th century, which was washed on site.
Further north, the mighty Aabachtalsperre dam forms a drinking water reservoir of particular quality (dogs are therefore unfortunately not allowed - a corresponding dog route takes you and your four-legged friend on an alternative route past the dam).
The Aatal nature experience extends below the dam wall with a wide range of tourist attractions. In addition to many leisure activities for young and old, the local gastronomy also invites you to linger and relax.
