Füllenbruch - N&K Route 18

The Füllenbruch comprises a narrow and 3 km long valley section of the Düsedieksbach, a tributary of the Werre. The original quarry forest was cleared many centuries ago. Until the 20th century, the heavy, damp soils only allowed extensive grassland use, mostly with grazing cattle. Since 1996, 138 hectares of the meadow valley have been a nature reserve and are managed by the Ravensberg Biological Station. Despite the general increase in arable farming, the Füllenbruch is still predominantly managed as grassland. As a result, it provides a habitat for many animals and plants that depend on damp locations.
