A good 7000 years ago, humans began clearing the forest in the Warbuger Börde in order to cultivate the fertile soil. The Börde is one of the oldest cultivated landscapes in Central Europe. Over the past millennia, the landscape has been completely transformed to meet the demands of man. There are hardly any remnants of the natural landscape here, but there is evidence of old forms of farming. They can be found above all on the outskirts of the Börde and in the Diemel Valley, in the form of semi-arid grasslands, colourful flowering meadows and orchards and shallow limestone shards.
Enjoy the summer blooms of the meadows and fields, the Mediterranean flair around the Heinturm and go in search of clues on the 6.5-kilometre hike.
