Multivision show "EAST AFRICA - fair trade, wildlife, digital"

Lecture/reading
With expressive photos, captivating stories and atmospheric music, Dr. Jutta Ulmer and Dr. Michael Wolfsteiner whisk the audience away to fascinating East Africa!

In Uganda, Kenya & Tanzania, the two photojournalists gained unique insights into the lives of fair trade producers, computer freaks and conservation refugees. They helped with the pineapple, tea and vanilla harvests and learned how cool decorative items are made from tourist garbage.

The two sat opposite endangered mountain gorillas in the lush green Bwindi National Park and watched lions, giraffes, leopards and tens of thousands of wildebeest crossing the Mara River in the Maasai Mara Serengeti ecosystem. They climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, whose ice cap continues to melt as a result of global warming, and began free diving on the dream island of Zanzibar to experience the abundance of fish in the light-flooded coral reefs up close.

"Our multivision show is a very personal portrait of East Africa. It shows people in their everyday lives and magnificent nature, but also environmental problems such as drought, ocean warming and waste flooding. We were surprised to find that mobile money is widespread among all sections of the population and that the SIM card-based payment system also works with ancient push-button cell phones," reports the well-travelled duo.

As photographers & journalists with a focus on fair trade, the two are members of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). In their impressive multi-vision shows, they combine fair trade with their own personal travel experiences. The perfect coordination of brilliant images, live commentary and East African sounds creates a magical atmosphere that invites you to enjoy, reflect, laugh and dream
