Guided tour/tour
From the middle of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century, the cigar industry was a major employer in our region. As early as 1913, more than 1800 people were employed in the cigar industry in Lübbecke and Gehlenbeck, most of them working from home. The advantages over factory work were obvious: the workers did not have to have their working hours determined by machines and supervisors. They felt like "free people" with more self-confidence.

Cigar worker Wiesken Vogt and reporter Fritz guide the participants through the history of cigars in Lübbecke. They hear about the living and working conditions and about the companies and production sites.

The 45-minute tour is rounded off with a free drink in a beer garden of the restaurants in Lübbecke.
