Lecture/reading

Bestselling author Alexandra Zykunov is coming to Minden City Library for the first nationwide Night of Libraries on April 4, 2025.

In "What else do you want?", she compiles unknown, absurd, but unfortunately very real figures, studies and impossibilities that painfully show where women are disadvantaged and how their lives become more strenuous, poorer and, in case of doubt, more life-threatening. Even today.

Or did you know that algorithms automatically grant women smaller loans? That the energy crisis caused prices for female products to rise higher than for male products? And did you realize that German laws prevent fathers from taking sick days? No?
In her inimitably angry and witty tone, Alexandra Zykunov writes the anti-male-gaze book we've all been missing. The patriarchy is probably not quite at an end yet - but the battle is on!

The reading starts at 6 pm. Due to limited seating, registration is required at stadtbibliothek@minden.de or by phone at 0571837910. Admission is 15 euros at the box office and admission is from 5.30 pm.

The reading is supported by the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Minden and the Minden-Lübbecke district as well as the Education Office of the City of Minden.

AlexandraZykunov, born in 1985, is a journalist for feminist and social issues at BRIGITTE and author of the bestseller "Wir sind doch alle längst gleichberechtigt!". As a speaker, she gives keynotes at international companies on topics such as feminism, care work and gender bias and is a high-reach voice on social media as @alexandra___z. Her pointed texts and analyses on the invisibility of women's and family issues in politics speak to thousands of women and regularly go viral.
