The notorious pirate captain Jonathan Balthasar Knall has retired to a peaceful little island with his animals, Happy the monkey, Jack the snake and Picknick the parrot.
Reporter Rita Reibach tracks him down there for an interview, and the captain reports on his last sea voyage.

Suddenly, Rita becomes embroiled in an adventurous story:
She finds herself on board the "Sea Cow", the theater hall becomes a stormy ocean and the children watching become a pirate crew....
....until the sinister captain Don Rodrigues Caracho appears!
