When Palestinian teenager Noor (Muhammad Abed Elrahman) confronts Israeli soldiers at a demonstration in the West Bank, the situation escalates and Noor is seriously injured. For Noor's mother, Hanan (Cherien Dabis), this seems to be just a logical chapter in her family's history of hardship. She begins to tell the story - of the war, of her brother Salim (Saleh Bakri) and of her grandfather Sharif (Adam Bakri), who refused with all his might to leave old Jaffa in 1948, and with it his house and orange grove, but was ultimately expelled.
