The exhibition sheds light on the surprisingly close connection between life behind monastery walls and the dazzling world of knights, and shows how clothing was not merely an adornment but also an expression of social status, gender, and social order.
We’re all familiar with suits of armor—but what did these heroes of the Middle Ages actually wear for dinner, or what did a monk wear to sleep? And what was the medieval equivalent of “sweatpants”?
Even today, clothing is far more than just a piece of fabric—it’s a statement, a marker of distinction, and a symbol of group identity all at once. So why not take a look at history through the lens of fashion?
