After Adalbert Grüter's death in 1913, his only son Leopold (1882-1960) inherited the villa. After the end of the war, American and later British occupation troops occupied the building, finally leaving it in 1960 in a very poor structural condition. Rudolf Grüter, born in 1915, continued to run the \"Steinmeister Ww.-Grüter\" cigar factory together with his father Leopold until 1954. In 1960, a community of heirs sold the building to the Schumacher family, who built a hotel in it, because the renovation costs were too high. Today, the old villa is divided into several residential units and is a great place to live in a historic ambience."
