In Delbrück-Anreppen, right on the banks of the Lippe River, you can experience history by following in the footsteps of the Romans. The Roman camp, which covers approximately 23 hectares, was discovered in 1968 and once housed about 6,000 soldiers. It was built at the beginning of the 1st century A.D. and served, among other things, to supply Roman troops.

Today, reconstructed camp ditches, parts of the road system, and a sewer reveal the scale of the former military complex. An archaeological trail leads to the areas where, among other things, the large commander’s building, a military bath, soldiers’ quarters, and extensive storage facilities have been identified. Information panels provide insights into the history and the archaeological finds.

The Roman camp is open to the public; guided tours can be arranged through the City of Delbrück.
