The historic Salzkotten train station building, which was constructed in 1849, is now home to the German Police Museum. The collection takes visitors on a journey through German police history from the 19th century to the present. On display are exhibits from all federal states as well as from the Federal Border Guard, the Railway Police, and the People’s Police of the GDR.

Uniforms, helmets, vehicles, and historical police equipment offer insights into the day-to-day work of various eras. The exhibits include, among other things, an early radar device, a tracked explosive-disposal robot, and historical radio sets. A collection of caps from various countries rounds out the exhibition.

Customized guided tours can be booked for groups. Children’s birthday parties can also be held at the Police Museum and combined with a visit to the exhibition.
