#### The Vision of Artist Karl Junker

A two-story half-timbered building with a brick base and a square floor plan. The house owes its unusual appearance to its richly carved architectural ornamentation. Inside, nearly all the walls and ceilings are paneled with wood. Various rooms and the stairwell feature wall and ceiling paintings.

From 1891 until his death in 1912, Karl Junker lived in the house and worked continuously on its interior design. The Junkerhaus is a residence, an artist’s studio, and a total work of art.

More information

The two-story half-timbered building with brick infill on a brick base stands on a hill along Hamelner Straße. The artist Karl Junker designed the plans. The house was built by Lemgo-based master carpenter Karl Schirneker and his team between 1889 and 1891.

The Junker House has a square floor plan with sides measuring 9.46 meters and four facades arranged with axial symmetry. The house is notable for its many windows.

The building derives its unusual appearance from its richly carved architectural ornamentation. It covers the facades like stucco and divides them according to a strictly symmetrical scheme using pilasters, entablatures, and cornices.
