=============================

- Church

The Linden Chapel is dedicated to the Blessed Mother. Originally, a small wayside shrine made of rubble stone and containing an image of Our Lady of Sorrows stood on this site.

 Above the niche where the painting stood was an inscription reading: “Simon Hermann Böger, mayor, and Anna Maria Thorwesten, d.d. anno 1696.” Because this small shrine was frequently and eagerly visited by devout worshippers, a small half-timbered chapel, 10 feet long and 7 feet wide, was built around it, with the niche containing the image incorporated into the back wall.

This small chapel was demolished in the 1850s due to dilapidation. The chapel that still stands today was built according to plans by Building Inspector Güldenpfennig of Paderborn. The funds for the chapel’s construction were raised by the Corpus Christi Brotherhood and through donations. The cost at the time was approximately 800 talers. Construction of the chapel began around 1860.
