Laxburg is the name given to the **area between Kaiserstrasse, Friedrich Wilhelmstrasse and Kasernenstrasse** on the right bank of the Weser, which was created around the railway station with the **opening of the Cologne-Minden railway** in 1847.

 It was named after the building contractor Franz Lax, who first built his house here at Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße 3. In the period up to around 1858, he developed the surrounding properties.

Lax improved the infrastructure by building a fresh water supply and sewerage system as well as through his efforts to build a school. Lax also supported projects in the old city area of Minden, such as the construction of the "Tonhalle".
