The Heimathaus shows, among other things, typical furnishings of a rural living culture.

The spacious farmhouse from 1645 has a typical Rietberg "Utlucht" (windowed projection from the front of the building as part of the interior, at ground level), which provides a view of the street. The Heimathaus was opened in 1989 under the management of the Heimatverein der Stadt Rietberg e.V. and has been open to visitors ever since.
