What once brought electricity to the village is now a place to explore: The approximately 100-year-old transformer tower in Salzkotten-Holsen tells the story of electrification and also serves as a habitat for birds and insects.

On the ground floor of the transformer tower is a small electrical museum. Numerous exhibits from the era before electrification can be found here. The interior of the former transformer has also been recreated there.

There is also a bird song phone, a scent and herb garden, and information panels about the history of the transformer tower and the village of Holsen-Schwelle-Winkhausen. A monitor for observing the kestrels in the upper part of the tower is also located inside the transformer tower.

The transformer tower also serves as an official cork collection point for the NABU cork campaign and a Bethel stamp collection point.

At the rear of the transformer tower, there is also an e-bike charging station that is freely accessible. Next to the tower, there is also a public bookcase where visitors can browse while their bikes are charging.
