From the starting point, the route initially leads north along the "Am Heyersberg" road and turns right into the forest above the arboretum onto the "Lichtenauer Kirchweg". At the edge of the forest, turn right onto the "Die Große Trift" path to the south, where the A3 meets the A2 hiking trail and the route continues together.
