Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Why not organize your trip as a multi-day tour! After an overnight stay at the campsite, the trip continues on the second day to the famous Porta Westfalica!
If you are not on an organized tour, please observe the navigation rules that apply to many rivers. As a canoeist, you can make a contribution to ensuring the quality of recreational and leisure use in nature and the countryside. To do this, it is essential to adhere to a few rules:

- Avoid paddling in reed beds, overgrown stretches of bank and shallow water areas; they are not only home to plants, some of which are endangered, but are also breeding and rearing grounds for many animal species.
- Avoid noise and observe the animals from a greater distance.
- Please only take short breaks in designated rest areas.
- Always leave the river as you would like to find it and dispose of your waste in the designated areas.
- Never paddle under the influence of alcohol. Drunken canoeists endanger their own safety, disturb the natural environment and have a lasting negative impact on the acceptance of canoeing!
