St. Anne's day in Brakel
Largest inner-city fair in the Weser Hills region
The oldest record of this public holiday - at that time still the 16th August - is from the year 1498. After 1755, the previous four markets were cancelled and moved to St. Anne's day.
The St. Michaelis fair was also moved to St. Anne's day. The secular fair probably came into existence after 1755. And it is held annually from the Friday before the first Sunday in August until the following Monday (cattle market). The name "Annentag" (St. Anne's day) is trademarked.
